Carlene Yap

Carlene Yap is an Associate in Fortis Law Corporation and a member of the Firm’s Private Client Practice Group.

Carlene has experience in intellectual property and currently represents clients in a wide range of private disputes. Cory Wong Guo Yean

Cory is an Associate in the Private Client Practice Group. He specialises in criminal law and works directly under our prominent criminal law director Josephus Tan.

Cory handles a whole array of white and blue collar matters, from theft to regulatory crimes and from disorderly behaviour to homicide.

Cory believes in second chances for the deserving and takes on cases involving offenders from all walks of life. However, reality may be harsh and second chances may not come readily. Cory thus believes in spreading criminal law literacy at the grassroots in the hopes of averting crime before it happens.

And for those who have fallen prey to the allures of crime or for those who staunchly maintain their innocence, Cory believes in protecting their interests to the fullest extent possible under the law.

Cory was previously a police officer and had spent much time interacting with the community. As a lawyer, he continues to devote countless hours to speaking at community events.

Cory graduated from the University of Warwick (UK) and is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Hu Huimin

Huimin is a Senior Associate in the Firm’s Private Client Practice Group. She graduated in 2011 from the National University of Singapore with a Double Honours in Business Administration and Law. She was called to the Singapore bar in 2012 and has a broad range of experience in civil and commercial litigation .

Huimin’s focuses on all aspects of divorce and family related matters. She has acted for clients in estate matters, probate, deputy applications, divorce proceedings, ancillary matters, custody and maintenance issues. She has appeared before the Family Justice Courts in highly contentious cases and facilitated the resolution of many cases through mediation. She has also represented a client in an appeal before the Family Division of the High Court involving a complex division of matrimonial assets.

As a family lawyer, Huimin aims to help families to remain amicable and cohesive. She provides tailored and practical advice to her clients without losing sight of the needs of the client.

In order to cater to the diverse needs of her private clients, Huimin also dabbles in other areas of law including employment matters, negligence, defamation, etc.

Huimin approaches each of her cases with attention and detail in order to achieve an optimal outcome for her clients. As a lawyer who cares for her clients, she is sensitive to the needs of her clients and listens to their concerns while guiding them towards a holistic resolution of their disputes.

Kaden Goh

Kaden is an Associate in Fortis Law Corporation and a member of the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

Kaden has experience in commercial arbitration and matters heard at all levels of the Singapore Courts. Since being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of Singapore, Kaden has dealt with a range of commercial and private matters, including contractual and commercial cases.

Kaden graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Magna Cum Laude – High Distinction) from Singapore Management University, and speaks English and Mandarin.

Nicole Zheng

Nicole is a registered Foreign Legal Counsel (China Desk) at Fortis Law Corporation. She is a member of the Firm’s Corporate Finance and Corporate Commercial Practice Group.

Nicole was called to Chinese Bar in 2013 and has also obtained her Master of Laws in Cross-Border Business and Finance Law in Asia from the Singapore Management University. 

Nicole is fluent in both Mandarin and English.

Nur Amalina B Kamal

Amalina Kamal is an Associate in Fortis Law Corporation and a member of the Firm’s Private Client Practice Group.

She has represented clients in litigation on a wide range of matters including commercial, contractual, construction and criminal with a focus on matrimonial disputes including divorce proceedings, proceedings and applications involving custody of children, division of matrimonial assets and maintenance.

Amalina has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the National University of Singapore.

Amalina is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore and speaks English and Malay.

Rafizah Goffoor

Rafizah practices in the area of commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Rafizah is a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice. Rafizah has a wide range of experience in civil and commercial litigation. Besides litigation, she has experience in all areas of dispute resolution, from mediation to international arbitration. Rafizah has acted as counsel in SIAC, UNCITRAL, ICC, LMAA and SCMA arbitration proceedings.

Hailing from an international law firm, she has advised Singapore and international companies, in-house counsel and companies on the drafting of arbitration and dispute resolution clauses in contracts. She also assists foreign counsel in SIAC arbitrations in Singapore by advising on the SIAC rules and processes. A meticulous lawyer, Rafizah is focused on achieving the optimal solution for each client based on their situation.

Rafizah graduated from the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore in 2011 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2012

Siow Ying Yi

Ying is an Associate in Fortis Law Corporation’s Corporate Finance and Corporate Commercial practice group.

Ying’s main areas of practice are corporate finance and corporate and commercial transactions, including listings, continuing listing compliance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity investments.

Ying graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Western Australia and is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

Tan Shen Kiat

Shen Kiat is an Associate within the Firm’s Private Client Practice Group. He is concurrently the Legal Advisor to FortisWills and FortisCare, subsidiaries of Fortis Life Group dealing with wealth preservation, advance care and estate planning issues.

Shen Kiat assists his clients to plan for the present and future generations through the design and creation of trusts and other anticipatory decision-making instruments, such as but not limited to Wills (a form of testamentary trust) and Lasting Power of Attorney (“LPA”) under the Mental Capacity Act. Many of his clients have substantial property interests and other valuable artefacts, and Shen Kiat advises them on cross-border jurisdictional issues in the course of preservation and enhancement of family wealth. He also acts for clients in contentious disputes relating to the administration of assets, and gives public and private talks on estate planning to let people understand how to protect their family wealth and minimise the potential for disputes.

He obtained LL.B (Hons) 2nd Upper Honours from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. Shen Kiat has a first degree in Political Science and a Minor in Religious Studies from the National University of Singapore.

Tham Hooi Meng

Hooi Meng is a Senior Associate in Fortis Law Corporation and a member of the Firm’s Commercial Practice Group. She specialises in insurance litigation and personal injuries claims.

Hooi Meng obtained her LL.B. (Hons) at the University of Malaya.  She was called to both the Malaysian Bar in 2008 and to the Singapore Bar.

Wong Tian Ying

Tian Ying is an Associate in Fortis Law Corporation and a member of the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
